How Firms Get Listed Here — The Full Methodology
One page, no fine print: the criteria, how the evaluated set is built, what the publisher discloses, and how a buyer can re-run every check on this site for free.
The Published Selection Methodology
Published by Apex Grid Engineering PLLC. The firms evaluated and listed on this site today are the publisher's own family of brands — this is an affiliated directory, not a neutral referee. The methodology below is the standard any engineering firm can be measured against, and it is the standard we hold our own firms to in public.
| Criterion | What it means — and how to check it yourself |
|---|---|
| Licensure you can verify | An active professional engineer license in the project's state — for every discipline the firm seals — checkable in minutes on the state board's official lookup (this site links all 51). A firm that cannot point you to its license record is not a firm; it is a risk. |
| Discipline match | The firm actually seals the discipline your project needs. A structural-only shop selling MEP, or a drafter selling engineering, fails this test no matter how good the website looks. |
| Relevant project type | Documented work in your building type — hospital, multifamily, warehouse, restaurant, school — because the code path and the reviewer expectations differ by occupancy. |
| Response discipline | Quotes measured in days, not weeks, and a named human who answers. This site's evaluated firms commit to same-day quotes from a complete scope. |
| Permit-ready deliverables | Coordinated sets that clear plan check without burning your schedule in correction cycles. Ask any firm for its correction history; the honest ones can describe it. |
How the evaluated set is built: a firm is listed when the publisher can document it meeting criteria 1–3 for the states and disciplines shown, and it commits publicly to criteria 4–5. Today the documented set is the publisher's own five firms. Any other firm that documents the same criteria is evaluated on the same terms and, when verified, is added on the same terms — the standard does not change with the logo. Presentation order is the publisher's choice, disclosed here, and no firm pays for placement.

Re-Run Our Checks Yourself
Criterion 1 — licensure — is the only one that is purely factual, and it is the one buyers skip. Do not skip it: the license-lookup index links the official board tool for all 51 states, and each state page walks the five-minute check: status active, discipline matches your project, no undisclosed disciplinary action, firm registration where the state requires it.
Criteria 2–5 are judgment calls, and we publish ours so you can disagree with them informed. A firm that aces 1–3 and answers in days is a safer hire than a famous name that fails 1 — that ordering of priorities is the publisher's position, stated openly.
Who Publishes This Directory
Published by Apex Grid Engineering PLLC. The firms evaluated and listed on this site today are the publisher's own family of brands — this is an affiliated directory, not a neutral referee. The methodology below is the standard any engineering firm can be measured against, and it is the standard we hold our own firms to in public. Presentation order on this site is the publisher's choice and an experiment in what helps buyers decide — it is not an objective quality verdict, and no firm pays for placement. Coverage claims are limited to licensure the operator's bench actually holds, stated per state. No reviews, ratings, or project claims are published for any firm unless they can be documented — you will find none invented here.
